A Turquoise Pop – and my Pup

earrings and bracelet: from an art fair in Lake Tahoe, sweater: Forever 21, pants: J. Crew, boots: London Fog

As I have shown before in this black-based ensemble, I don’t think head-to-toe black will ever look out-of-place. Whether it is in winter or right now in the middle of May, black always looks chic. Yesterday happened to be quite a dreary day in Los Angeles (as is today) so I started off with a slim turtleneck and added even tighter fitting black J. Crew pants. The rain was a constant, so the rain boots were a definite must. I really think by adding the turquoise earrings and bracelet, the outfit comes off as cheerful instead of boring because the eye is instantly drawn to the color instead of the black. If you really want to give your accessories the attention they deserve (like these earrings and bracelet combo certainly do) then this is the way to go. It would easily work well on top of a white outfit or even a khaki one. Olivia Palermo does the same thing with this outfit below. The fun colored shoes and clutch really are the focal points of this outfit.

Now, I couldn’t resist showing you the newest addition to our family as well. Our new Pomeranian puppy, Gaston, looks pretty happy to make his debut on Twirly Skirts! ♥
